If you have a child between the ages of 12 and 53 months who has had repeated episodes of wheezing, he or she may qualify to participate in an important study funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Purpose of the study
This National Jewish Health Study is a study that will examine whether medications used to treat asthma (Pulmicort Respules® — an inhaled corticosteroid) are more effective when used only during respiratory illnesses or whether the medication should be taken on a daily basis. The goal is to determine the best first line treatment for young children with recurrent wheezing.
Study details
- All medications are FDA approved
- The study lasts 1 year
- Free medical evaluations including allergy skin tests, breathing tests and physical examination
- There are 9 scheduled study visits; education will be provided at each visit
Compensation
- If your child qualifies, he/she will receive a free nebulizer and medications
- Your child will receive financial compensation for his or her participation
